Seriously, AGAIN?!?!?!?!

Oh YES indeed!!! It is true. How in the world would we ever have enough stuff to put on the blog if this kindof stuff did not happen? I mean seriously, you cannot make this stuff up.

Wednesday morning we get up and have breakfast. We decide we should hit the road because we are a day late due to van issues. Grandma and Grandpa need our help....off we go. Or so we think..... Van starts beautifully. We drive across the street to a gas station to get some gas, and of course a Diet Coke. I turn the van off and as the kids try to get out of the doors...... they will not open. Hmmmm... that seems a little odd but we get gas. Try to start and NOTHING!!! What the heck it was running 5 minutes ago and now nothing?!?!?!?!?

I ask a nice man to help us jump start the van. Now if the van started right away that would make this story really boring!!! So.... yup you guessed it, that does not to work either. We are looking at the battery and trying to figure out what in the heck is going on. I tighten the cables .... why?!?!?  Well because...... funny thing they are loose again.

Might that be what the tow guy said the first time we were in a pickle. I do believe so. I also believe that is the message I gave the Honda people. Let me think... think.... think, oh yes, the Honda people told me that they were completely fine but if I wanted "peace of mind" they could change them for me for $300.00 and two days later (they would have to order them). But they did not NEED to be done that they were functioning perfectly normal. GRRRRR ..... so finally after getting them as tight as I can we get the van started.

The kids were okay with the delay as there were a bunch of old cars parked close by that they went and checked out.  I think they all picked the "one " they hope to drive when they turn 16.  I guess they had better start working now!!!

By this point that Diet Coke is not longer just something I want it is a MUST!!!  We go back across the street to McDonald's and get not one but two and to my dismay.... as I am bringing it through the window..... I spill half of it where.... in my lap, of course. At this point I am laughing because there is nothing else to do!!!!! (and my precious children are laughing as well)  I am so glad they can see the humor in my suffering.  :)

So off we go. We hit some storms but nothing too bad. The smell of rain is amazing.!!!  We sure do miss that smell in Palmdale!!! We have the iTunes playlist up and we are singing at the top of our lungs and dancing... well dancing the best you can when driving in a packed mini van.

We are having a good time!!We realize we are going to need gas if we are going to make it the rest of the way. The first place we stop the power is out and all the gas stations are closing.  We have a new problem arising though, because by this point the water that the kids drank and the 1 1/2 Diet Cokes that I drank are making us realize we MUST stop soon.

We drive to the next town and get lucky. However, I did not think this through very well.  It would be pretty unwise to turn the van off , since starting it up again never seemed to go well for us. Here we are......my bladder full , the kids bladders full, and a van we need to leave running.  We know that we cannot leave the van running without anyone in it, but I cannot leave a van full of kids with the keys in it......:0.  Again, we lucked out!!!  Thank heavens for bathrooms that are not in the gas station but rather, out back !!! All we had to do was rotate though. Leave the van running and locked with a few people in it at a time. I don't think I have ever emptied my bladder so quickly.

Finally we arrive at Mom and Dad's house. Stop the van and yes....... doors will not open again. Dead as a dead can be!!! (as a side note... maybe I should have left it running and unlocked at the gas station. ) Heaven help us!!!! For anyone who is interested.... I do not think I will ever buy a Honda van AGAIN!!!! Not my favorite, that is for sure!!!

But bring the moving on! I am so proud of my kiddos. They got right in and started packing, loading and unloading the moving truck right away. You would have thought they had spent two days sitting in a van or something. So much energy. :)

And that my friends, that is what we call a successful day one of helping Grandma and Grandpa move!!!  Rest well, I know we will!!!

Let the Fun Begin!!!!

After being delayed because of van issues we are FINALLY on the road. I must, if the van is going to give us grief.... I am really glad that it happened in Palmdale and not while we were on the road.  It might have made for better story telling but not less stress. :)
As it turns out, Hunter and I ran to Walmart on Saturday and when we went to get back into the van it failed to start. After having two unsuccessful experiences with jump starting it, the tow guy showed up. He was able to tweek a connector and get us going. Sunday morning it would not start again, but that afternoon it did. Weird...... Well took it to Honda Service first thing Monday morning. After many hours, they told me that there was nothing wrong with it.
Hmmmm.... does that mean that I am just crazy and it is normal for a van to not start for any apparent reason?!?!? Drove it home and got busy making some jam and trying to get packed. When I went to run some errands...... oops 8:00pm ...... guess what. Yup.... van did not want to start , but with a little begging, (okay, maybe it was perhaps some bad words escaping my mouth. :0 ) it ran long enough to get Bryan and I to Auto Zone. Well a funny thing happened, when they did a battery test it was bad and had to be replaced immediately. Needless to say I was less than thrilled. But since we were now in business I only ranted and raved for a few more hours.

After a lovely drive in the wind and rain..... WE HAVE ARRIVED  in St. George. This is the first stop in our fun summer adventure. When I had to change the reservation, due to the van, the hotel did not have the room available that I needed. The poor guy felt sorry for us!!!  Guess what he did...... He upgraded us to the two room family suite with a jetted tub. You would have thought the kids had never seen one before. It was awesome!!! We ordered in some Dominos and now we are settling down for some lovely shut eye. Or at least that is what I keep telling the kiddos.... Good night friends!!! May your dreams be peaceful and happy!!!

Back to Blogging

I was recently looking at this blog and realized how much I missed it.  It had become such a fun way to journal and the kids loved being able to see it as well.  So I am going to try and get back into it.  I have a lot of things to cover and the best part of it all....... It is the beginning of summer vacation and we are up for some fun adventures.  What a fun way to start out.

This will be quick and short.  I am a bit worn out of the end of the school year stuff.  But I had to post this picture.  Of course this is my post of the first day of school and the last day of school.  For those who may not recognize where we are in the bottom picture I will tell you.  We were at DISNEYLAND!!!  We absolutely love that place so what a better way to start out vacation than to go and spend the afternoon and evening at truly ," the happiest place on earth."    Or as Bryan once stated, "heaven on earth."  We had a blast!!!  And honestly, we think that this was the best way to celebrate finishing the 8th grade, 7th grade and 6th grade.

Slideshow of our adventure to follow.  But for now..... can you believe how grown up my "babies" have become.  Rest well all!!!

Tinkerbell 1/2 Marathon Weekend

It is true!!!  I completed the Tinkerbell 1/2 marathon.  I ran this race a year ago and was getting ready to run the Santa Barbara 1/2 marathon.  But during the Tough Mudder in Vegas, I managed to become one big bruise and hurt my hip.  I tore my right labrum and was told that I may never run again.  I did not like that answer so I went and got a second opinion.  After some physical therapy , and patience I did it!!!  I was very excited.  A little tired but excited.  It also proved to be my best time yet!!!
I am so lucky to have such a great cheering section behind me to get me through those last couple of miles.  Knowing that I get to great these wonderful faces at the finish line is the best!!!

Nathan asked me if I won the race.  I am trying to teach them that if they want something bad enough they can have it, if they do not give up and are willing to work hard.  So my response to him,  "Did I finish the race?"  He said ,"yes, you did."  "Then Yes, son, I won the race!!!"

It was a fun weekend!!!!
