Angels among Us!!!

This is going to be just a quick update. I have so much I want to share and so many fun things going on. However, I have been so sick that I can barely keep my head above water. Jay is in Hawaii for some training. (Lucky man!!!) He left on Sunday. I had been getting sick and really feeling under the weather. He asked me if he needed to cancel and stay home. Silly me, not knowing what the future held for me I assured him I would be fine. Well by Sunday night I was beginning to doubt my decision. By Monday afternoon I knew I was in real trouble. My sinuses were killing me, my chest felt like it was on fire, my eye was so swollen and blood shot I could barely see and I had a fever and chills. Still in denial I went to bed knowing I would wake up fine and all would be good. Not so much. :> I woke up to an eye that was so swollen and leaking you could not even tell it was an eye. That scared me so I realized I had to get to the doctor as soon as possible. I called my great friend Lauren who was just getting off of work after working all night and asked her to please meet me at the clinic and take Tanner to the dentist as I did not have enough time to cancel but had to get to my doctor and I was lucky enough that they could see me at 8:00 . Which would put me home in time for the quads to get off the bus from the preschool. I was diagnosed with a sinus infection, an eye infection as a result of the horrible sinus infection and the beginnings of bronchitis. Yeah, what fun.

I go to the store with sunglasses on, naturally as you cannot have people looking at that horrible mess. And this really is better than it was 12 hours earlier. Bad. Anyway, I finally get home and the kids should be home any minute. I run in to use the bathroom and realize that I have not done that yet that morning and to my utter dismay I can feel a bladder infection coming on. If you have ever suffered a bladder infection you know what I mean. Those first few moments when you start to go to the bathroom and have horrible discomfort, your bladder spasms and you immediately think you have to go again , only to discover you are .....oh so wrong. I could have sat down and cried. How does this happen, and how does it happen when you are home alone with six wonderful children and your husband is in Hawaii soaking in the rays of sun.

But as the day progressed I realized how lucky I am to have the friends and family in my life that I do. Lauren was there the instant I needed someone. Even though she had worked all night. She did not even hesitate. She jumped right in and found the dentist office and got Tanner all checked out!!! Thank you Lauren. Then my mom in Utah was making chicken noodle soup. And I don't know about anyone else but when I am sick all I want is my mom. Well she said out loud that she was wishing me some chicken noodle soup. And within an hour there it was. My neighbor Kathy showed up with cranberry juice (for the bladder infection) and chicken noodle soup as she knew it was the best cure for the blahs. I just could not believe it. Then the same night Phil called to make sure that I did not need help getting the kids to bed, thanks Phil!!! Next day my visiting teacher from church showed up with yet another pot of chicken noodle soup. Wow, may people stepped in and became my angels and helped me to get through some horrible times when I really wondered if I was going to live . So thank you so very much to all my angels!!! On a happy note, today after getting the antibiotics and eye cream I am feeling so much better. I am still easily exhausted but we are doing well. And thanks to my wonderful kids (who bless their little hearts) have tried very hard to take care of me and make sure that I get better!!! I am a lucky woman. Great kids, great friends, and great family. Thank you everyone, I am now off to bed to get more rest and feel better!!!

Our little Crab!!

Tanner was in the school play the other night. He got the part of a crab. Looks like he was having fun. I must admit, I was a little disappointed though. It was all of the second grade classes here in Sahuarita, which I believe is about 7. Most of the classes got to be center stage to sing and dance for one number. Our little crab merely crab walked across the stage. However, in the music teacher's defense this is only her second year and you learn as you go!!! Besides, you can tell by looking at Tanner he did not care. He loved being the "best" crab ever.
I must share my crab making experience with you. First, and foremost, I am the worst seamstress you will ever come across. So naturally I put off any sewing that has to be done until the very last moment. So this was no different. (I really should learn :>) Anyway, we are rushing to finish Valentine's, working on homework and I am sewing. Of course, I am about half way done and the needle on the machine breaks and the machine jams. That is okay, I am used to this kind of drama. So I spend 10 minutes unjamming it and start looking for my spare needles. What!?!?!!? I cannot find them. I just saw them a couple of days ago, but where was that? Oh well, I call my neighbor to see if she happens to have any, no such luck. But not panicking.... ( okay , maybe panicking a little) I decide that I can finish it by hand. I did manage to finish, still get dinner on the table and make it to the play in time. Just imagine two years from now when I have four in the school play and I need to sew four costumes. Holy cow, I should get started now!!!!! Have a great day, my friends.

Update on our friend Mr. Graham. They were able to do only a five bypass instead of seven. That is awesome news. He has a long way to go but is doing well and progressing each day. Thanks for the prayers and keep them coming!!!

Prayers needed for Friend.

Please if you get a moment today offer and hold a prayer in your heart. Bro. Graham is heading into a 7 by pass heart surgery. My father was told at 46 in 1996 that he was going to have to have an emergency triple by pass. Turned out his heart was worse off than they thought and he ended up having a five by pass. It was one of the scariest times of our lives. We all spent many hours at the hospital feeling scared. But because of all the prayers and friends that dropped everything to be there with us we made it through. My "future" in laws came from colorado to sit with us to help make the time go by faster, my friend Destry came late at night to help me laugh the night away. Many friends from church brought food and smiling faces to help lift our broken and tired spirits. The many people praying for us also lifted us up and gave us courage and strength we never knew we had . Thank you so much everyone for that, and now let's band together to help another brother and sister who need our prayers and strength. Sleep well my friends and thank you so very much.

Where have all my babies Gone?

Nathan ever so proudly showing off his 1st lost tooth. Cassie the 1st born of the quads lost hers already and now Nathan the next born is following suit. I just cannot believe that they are "old" enough to be losing teeth. Time sure flies by when you get busy with the "ins" and "outs" of everyday life. Just don't forget to take a break and soak in the moments.

Here are my cuddle bugs, you would think that we had downsized with the new furniture. But the truth is we gained a chair. We now have a couch, love seat and chair. Why is it they all want to squish into the chair. I guess this is what they call "brotherly love." Or is it "king of the mountain?" Sleep well my friends, and give your loved ones a hug!!!!

Way to go Tanner!!!

Tanner got 3rd place at the pine wood derby on Saturday. He did get, had a ton of fun, and can hardly wait for it again next year. He was so disappointed last year after he got nothing so this year he could hardly wait to bring home is trophy and certificate. His trophy is shining nicely in our china hutch. However, I am not sure how much longer he will allow me to keep it there. He wants it in his room and that usually means it is broken in a very, very short amount of time!!

Congratulations, our little man we are so proud!!!!

Date Night

I am telling you.......... some of the things that happen around my house are just "too" unbelievable. Seriously, the only thing you can do is shake your head and laugh. This is the scene outside my house Saturday night, and of course, it is 5 minutes before our friends are arriving to watch the kids so that Jay and I can go out to a movie. Lauren and Phil actually followed the fire truck up the street and were nervous it was going to stop at our house. Sure enough it did!!!

However, as you can tell by the mayhem in the backyard, it did not slow the kids down, or even phase them for that matter. So here is the story, Friday night or very early Saturday morning around 2 am the carbon monoxide detector starts going off .(of the battery is dying and of course this cannot happen at a decent time of the day sound.) So we quickly got up and change the battery in hopes that the little ones will sleep through it all. We were lucky and they did.
Saturday was a busy day and we left the house around 8:30 to run errands until about 3ish. We had dinner and I was cleaning up so we could go to the movie. About 25 minutes before we are supposed to leave the alarm starts to go off and I mean go off. Jay went up and changed the battery again (just in case it was bad). Reset it and we were hopeful. No such luck.... again the alarm is sounding and telling us to move to fresh air. Okay, I have had the windows open all afternoon because it is a gorgeous day. Reset again. Quiet... until Jay gets down the stairs. At this point, our only option is to call the fire department, because you would rather be safe than sorry. I get the dispatcher who asks me how many kids and pets I have. Let's see.... six kids, two dogs, a guinea pig and a rabbit. Long pause from the man on the other end...... We are instructed to immediately open doors and windows and go outside until the fire department gets here.

The fire department arrives and they come to the backyard to talk to me. The "chief" asks , "Are all these kids yours?" Lauren, who has now arrived and is giggling almost uncontrollably and snapping pictures as fast as she can announces, "no, there are 8 more inside." He was not amused, however, I was. We ,the chief, the fireman and myself, head upstairs to assess the situation. The chief announces on his radio, " it appears to be a low battery." Now this really made me mad. I told him," we changed the battery and I don't appreciate you telling everyone that because it makes me look stupid." So the fireman licks the battery to make sure it has a charge and promptly tells him that the battery is good. (Good job, I was impressed. Not even I would have done that. :>) They finally decide that the alarm itself is bad and that this is not an unusual problem in these houses. Whew, that is good news. I then tell the chief that I want him to clear things up on his radio.( because there is nothing that makes me more mad than someone making me look stupid. )I can do a good enough job of that myself. LOL. He looked oddly at me and I informed him, " I was not kidding." So he radioed everyone to tell them it was the alarm and not the homeowner!!

So the good news..... we made it to our movie (Bridewars, thank you Jay) it was a laugh so hard you cry movie..... some of the kids got fireman hats and we are no worse for the wear. Plus, we have a great new story for our blog. Have a great night my friends!!!
